Mr Bailey
Mr Bailey's condition started when he was young he was involved in an accident when a motorcycle lost control and collided with the young Mr Bailey,
he was taken to the doctors and was diagnosed with a severely bruised right hip.
as Mr Bailey got older T.B developed in the right hip and he was taken into hospital where his right hip was fused at an angle of 15 degrees.
Mr Bailey was then left with a stiff right hip which in turn started to cause severe wear on his left hip.
He has also had to have a Knee replacement on his right leg and the knee joint is semi rigid.
An attempt to repair this started with an artificial left hip replacement went wrong when the hip joint cement failed.
it was then decided that another operation was needed to insert a new hip joint, the surgeons had to remove some of the bone at the top of the femur to locate the new hip pin.
This left Mr Bailey wit a shortening of 2 1/2 inches, he managed quite well but due to his rigid left hip the hip joint once again failed and had to be removed, this left surgeons with a problem the bone was damaged and the whole hip joint had to be removed and Mr Bailey's femur is now 4 1/2'' short and is wearing against the hip socket and the bone is wearing away as he moves about so his shoe raise has to be constantly checked and modified.
Also because of his rigid left hip his shoe raise has no got to be higher than the true shortness so that he can swing his leg through to walk.
