Mr Bedford was born with a deformed right foot, his condition occured
during the early stages of his mothers pregnancy probably due to
an illness or trauma such as an accident.
The biological map was mixed up when the embryo was forming, resulting
in an elbow joint being inserted instead of an akle joint. Although Mr
Bedford has a deformed left arm with limited elbow joint movevment which
was operated onat about 6mths of age his condition was not noticed untill
he was 10 years old when his foot had become stunted it was then
decided that nothing further could be done about it.
More recently he has had some Problems with his foot and has been to
see a specailist who has told him that it is amazing that he has been able
to walk on it for so long as an elbow joint is not designed to take the
stresses and strains of walking.
Mr Bedford has only in the last 10 years had specially made boots with
a cork insole made to mould around and support his foot, untill then he
had to buy boot or shoes size 8 and then have the heel built
up with a 3.5 inch raise.
