These boots are some of the many pairs that I have in my collection, they were the first pairs that I that were given to me and the ones that started the collection.
Mr. Linzer came to the U.K as political refugee in 1948,after being conscripted into the German Army when Germany invaded Poland during W.W.II he saw much action and was moved to a tank regiment, during action his tank was hit and the 17 year old Mr. Linzer had to jump from the moving tank and landed awkwardly.
He suffered severe fractures to his lower leg and ankle, fearing capture and imprisonment he went into hiding and 9 months later taken into the care of the allied forces, who upon examining the unhealed ankle suggested amputation.
Mr. Linzer refused permission for the amputation and was advised that it would get worse in later life.(you can see this from the pictures the ever changing type of boots he had made for him)The diagram shows how Mr. Linzer's ankle turned over and set at an unnatural angle so that he ended up walking on the edge of his foot.
Later on in life Mr. Linzer's deteriorated and an ankle brace needed to support and stop the foot from twisting .
Over the years it cost Mr. Linzer many thousands of pounds in have orthopedic footwear made for him.
When Mr. Linzer passed away he left instructions for all his boots to be forwarded to me.Mr. Linzer 19??--1990 R.I.P.
