Mr
Clarke has a 4 1/2" shortening of the right leg due to an accident
He
was riding his moped home from work in th 1960s when he was involved in
a collision with a lorry and ended up trapped underneath it and had to
cut free. he
was rushed to hospital and surgeons were unsure if thay could save the
badly damaged leg. After
many months the surgeons had to cut back the bone of the femur to get the
bone to heal,as a result of the surgery and the damage to muscle etc his
ankle started to turn outward so the left shoe has a wedged and floated
heel
(see
pic below)
The
right built up shoe Has a 4 1/2" cork inner sole so that he can stand level, the
toe section is turned upwards so that it rolls forward as he walks.
Fashion
designers copied this type of shoe in the 1970's in
the era of the platform shoe and now making a comback on a street
near you.
